BSc Co-op Program

Co-operative Education (co-op) gives you the opportunity to put what you’re learning in the classroom into practice through paid, full-time work experience. By completing co-op work terms during your degree, you can explore different career paths, build your professional network and graduate with valuable work experience already on your résumé.

Co-op also allows you to explore different career paths and discover what kind of work interests you. During each placement, you’ll set professional goals, develop new skills and reflect on what you’ve learned.

From advice on career pathways and preparation, to identifying and securing co-op work terms, CEL staff are ready to help you build a record of industry experience to compliment your academic record and strengthen your pre-graduation journey search.

If you’re applying to a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree program, you can apply directly into the BSc/co-op stream. Once you are accepted to SMU, you’ll be contacted in your first year with information about your co-op options and how to get started.

Not sure about co-op yet? You don’t have to decide before starting at Saint Mary’s. Current students can apply to the Co-operative Education Program after completing their first or second year, depending on their program and eligibility requirements.
