COVID-19 Information

Our campus is open and active.

University COVID-19 Protocols

In keeping with the university’s gradual and measured approach to lessening COVID-19 restrictions and Public Health guidance, the Return to Campus Advisory Team (RtCAT) has decided that we may now update our protocols. Beginning March 1, 2023, masking protocols will be modified as outlined below.

These new protocols will remain in place until the end of Winter Term and the completion of exams on April 21, 2023. A further update on the approach for Spring Term will be provided prior to the April date.

Mask requirements will remain in place for classrooms and laboratories

Masks are required in classrooms and labs. Faculty may remove masks while lecturing as long as two metres of social distancing can be maintained.

Masks are welcome and encouraged (but not required) in other areas on campus. Masks are welcome and encouraged (but not required) at events taking place on campus, including public lectures and gatherings.

The Return to Campus Advisory Team (RtCAT) will continue to assess the conditions and update the protocols for Saint Mary’s University.

If you are ill or test positive for COVID-19

Please stay home to recover and protect members of our community. We also encourage everyone to review Nova Scotia Health’s guidance on “Protecting Myself and Others” for more information on how to stay healthy, avoid infection from COVID-19 and what to do if you have symptoms or test positive.
