Heart for Life

Included in Heart for Life membership

This program is specifically designed for post-cardiac patients or for seniors who are interested in preventative heart health ( i.e., high blood pressure, over weight, elevated cholesterol). All fitness levels welcome. This program is ideal for individuals who have either had, or are at risk of having heart disease, heart attack, heart surgery or angina. Led and monitored by Certified Fitness Leaders, Physiotherapists, and Physiotherapy Students. You can self-refer or have a health care provider refer you to this program.

Heart for Life is ongoing throughout the year, so you can join anytime. Each class is 1.5hrs and begins in the Community Room. Blood pressure is monitored throughout the class as you move through a warm-up, resistance training, and a cool down. Support partners are encouraged to attend the program (with the member) at no additional charge.

Testimonials for Heart for Life:

"This program has been a wonderful experience for me. I have found support, exercise, education and wonderful friendships. After my heart attack and quadruple by-pass, I felt a real need to meet others who are living with this disease. The Heart for Life Program at The Homburg Centre for Health & Wellness has certainly surpassed all my expectations!" – Heather Hollett

"The Heart for Life Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Saint Mary's University has helped many patients achieve an excellent quality of life and is an important resource in our fight against heart disease." - Dr. David E. Johnstone, M.D., FRCPC
