Neville Gilfoy is the Founder, President and CEO of Progress Media Group Limited, a regional company which publishes print and digital magazines and websites. He is a 30-year veteran of the publishing industry, and has established himself as a passionate advocate for the revitalization of the Atlantic Canadian economy.

The recipient of a Bachelor of Arts (History and Political Science) from Dalhousie University, he has served as Chair of the Atlantic Provinces Chambers of Commerce, the Greater Halifax Partnership, the Atlantic council, and the Dartmouth General Hospital’s Capital Campaign.

Internationally, he is involved on the rotary of Dartmouth’s International Committee, is actively involved in building schools, wells and health clinics in the African nations of Burkina Faso and Niger, and is the Honourary Consul of France for Nova Scotia, where he works closely with senior officials of the French government in Canada.

Gilfoy was recently presented with the National Magazine Awards Foundation’s Outstanding Achievement Award – the only person outside of Ontario and Quebec to ever receive this prestigious acknowledgement. He was also awarded the Cross Border Initiative Society’s inaugural Atlantica Champions of Excellence visionary Award in 2009, and was name a 2008 Rotary International Paul Harris fellow for his humanitarian work in West Africa.

The honorary degree from Saint Mary’s recognizes Mr. Gilfoy’s commitment to professionalism in the publishing industry and his service to the community.
