Students interested in consulting can take advantage of our longstanding partnership with CMC Canada. By taking elective courses in management consulting and project management, you academically qualify to pursue the CMC designation. With instructors from our Business Development Centre, students also have the opportunity to work hands-on with local businesses in a Masters Consulting Project course. You will help your client address challenges and opportunities in real-time.

Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise and Sustainability

Interested in sustainability and entrepreneurship? We offer courses in Social Entrepreneurship; Environmental and Sustainability Management; and New Venture Opportunities. An exciting development has been the launch of the Venture Grade Student Venture Capital Fund, Canada's first student-raised and managed venture fund. MBA students work with students from other programs and other universities in raising capital, identifying and researching potential investments and competing across North America.


With a large and talented finance faculty shared with our Master of Finance program (one of the first in Canada), we are able to offer specialized content beyond introductory finance courses, such as Financial Management and Corporate Finance, Investment and Portfolio Management and Financial Institutions. If you are interested in gaining hands-on experience as a research analyst and portfolio manager, you can apply to join our IMPACT team. Students, with advice from faculty and investment professionals, manage a portfolio worth more than $400,000. This group participates in competitions and has travelled to New York City and Atlanta, Georgia.


Students wanting to pursue a marketing focus can take courses in brand management, omnichannel retailing, marketing communications or strategic marketing. With our newly launched David Sobey Centre for Innovation in Retailing and Services, you may be invited to participate in projects such as:

  • working with major regional retailers to find ways to enhance customer experience via a mobile app,
  • participating in an online retail challenge sponsored by Shopify,
  • joining an IBM Hackathon, and
  • brainstorming innovations in a new product innovation competition.
