Saint Mary’s University is proud to celebrate Enactus Saint Mary’s—2025 Enactus World Cup Champions—after their remarkable victory on the global stage in Bangkok, Thailand.
This extraordinary achievement placed Saint Mary’s and Canada at the top of a global competition spanning 28 countries and more than 1,000 teams worldwide.
With their award-winning projects, Alaagi and Square Roots, the team showcased powerful solutions to global challenges, earning Enactus Saint Mary’s the top spot and bringing the trophy home to Halifax.
This site celebrates their story and the power of student leadership, creativity, and purpose-driven entrepreneurship as the team builds on their World Cup momentum.
Enactus is one of the largest postsecondary student leadership organizations in the world and strives to solve environmental, social and economic issues through entrepreneurial action in 35 countries. Alaagi is one of the award-winning projects from Enactus Saint Mary's. The company has created a durable, fully compostable bioplastic made from seaweed.
Started in 2016 by Enactus Saint Mary's students, Square Roots has diverted more than one million pounds of "imperfect" produce from landfills, delivering it directly to Nova Scotians facing food insecurity.
