Dr. Búi K. Petersen received his PhD in Management in 2018 from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and joined the Sobey School of Business in 2021. His research spans and intersects topics and theory from Industrial Relations and Organization Theory. This research includes the examination of the role context and routinization in union-management negotiations, work and employment in remote and rural locations, and the impact of technological change on organizations and work. His most recent research focuses especially on the (potentially simultaneous) exploitation and empowerment workers may experience with new technology. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Petersen worked as a professional musician, manager of non-profit organizations and co-operatives, and consultant and trainer specializing in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation.
