Amna Chalwati is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting at St. Mary’s University. She currently teaches Introduction to Financial Accounting and International Accounting in the undergraduate curriculum. She also teaches Ph.D. Directed Study on Voluntary Disclosure and CSR at the Graduate level.  Amna studies greenwashing and social washing, with a focus on financial market forces and institutions, and CEO Traits. Amna's research has been published in leading academic journals such as the China Accounting and Finance Research (CAFR) and The Journal of Theoretical Accounting Research (JTAR). 

Amna holds a PhD from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and an M.Sc. in Accounting from Manouba University, Tunisia. Before her PhD, Amna worked as an auditor at CAO Tunisia.

 

Dr. Chalwati’s research interests include greenwashing, social-washing strategies, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance mechanisms, voluntary disclosures, and ESG reporting quality.
