Confucius Institute at Saint Mary's University

Confucius Institute at Saint Mary's University (SMUCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the spread of Chinese language and culture. Confucius Institute at Saint Mary's University is co-established by Saint Mary's University of Canada and Xiamen University of China, supported by the Asian Studies Program of the School of Arts of Saint Mary's University. A ceremony was held at the Provincial House in Nova Scotia to sign an agreement between the two universities to co-build a Confucius Institute on October 25, 2010. Chinese International Education Foundation authorized Xiamen University, China and Saint Mary's University, Canada, to use the Confucius Institute brand, name and logo on October 6, 2020. The Confucius Institute at SMU offers a comprehensive Chinese language curriculum, including the Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK), the CTCSOL (Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) test, and the China Scholarship Program.
