Santamarian Awards

The Santamarian Awards have been established to recognize outstanding contributions of faculty and staff to the workplace culture of Saint Mary’s University. The awards will be made annually and are intended to reflect the values of the University found in the Strategic Plan.

These values are:

  • Pursuing academic growth
  • Demonstrating resilience
  • Developing intercultural competence
  • Engaging our alumni and community
  • Exercising ethical wisdom

Award categories

1. Individual

How does this individual contribute to the workplace culture of the Saint Mary’s Community while exemplifying our values?

Criteria for the award:

  • Contributing to the creation of a respectful place of work and study within the university community
  • Creating a positive impact
  • Supporting equity, diversity, inclusivity and accessibility

2. Team

How does this team contribute to the workplace culture of the Saint Mary’s Community while exemplifying our values?

Criteria for the award:

  • Working together to collaborate and contributing to the creation of a respectful place of work and study within the university community.
  • Creating a positive impact through these efforts
  • Supporting equity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility while inspiring others

Eligibility

The awards are open to all full-time employees of Saint Mary’s University who have served a minimum of two (2) years of continuous service prior to nomination.

Winners will receive a framed parchment and an award on which their name will be inscribed.

Nominations will be assessed by a Review Committee comprised of members of our university community.
