Halifax Public Libraries (HPL) is the largest public library system in Nova Scotia, with over 2.8 million visits to library branches and 172,520 active registered borrowers. With roots that trace back to the establishment of the Citizens' Free Library in 1864, the current library system consists of fourteen branches, two offices, and a collection of almost one million items. The Halifax Ghost Walk is a 1 hour and 40 minute walk through Halifax’s historic city streets with tales of ghosts, spirits, and devils with maybe a hanging or two thrown in for good measure. Stories are collected from the folklore of Nova Scotia, all supported with a good dose of local history to give context to the ghost stories themselves.
