What is it and who is it for?

This weekly online working group is open to any students and faculty members working on a project related to sport who are looking for accountability and networking opportunities. This can include students working on theses or research papers, faculty working on a publication or a course they are teaching, and other possibilities. Participants to not need to be affiliated with Saint Mary's. The goal is to create a sense of community and to support those who feel that they accomplish more in the presence of others or with a dedicated block in their schedule. Participants are not obligated to be present each week.

How is the session organized?

These virtual sessions run from 6-8:30 p.m. Atlantic time on Mondays between January 22nd and April 22nd, 2023. They will follow a modified version of the Pomodoro Technique, which uses focused periods of work separated by short breaks. Participants can log on to the Zoom call whenever they wish and are not required to have their cameras and microphones on. In the span of 2.5 hours, there will be two optional 10-minute opportunities to share current projects and progress, three muted working sessions, and two 10-minute breaks. The sessions will be led by Ève LeBlanc (SMU BSc 2023) who will facilitate conversation at the beginning and the end as well as provide timing reminders throughout.
