Internet Performance Issues Concluded

ITSS is aware that there are some performance issues with the internet and technical resources are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Eastlink Email Issues Concluded

We are currently experiencing problems sending from SMU email addresses to Eastlink addresses. We haven't had any further reports about this so will assume this has been resolved.

Residence Access Concluded

ITSS will be upgrading the server that manages network connections in residence that use a cable and wall jack. There will be brief interruptions to the service during the change over time.

We do not anticipate any issues for currently registered devices – your existing registration should migrate smoothly to the new server. However, if you do experience any problems after this change is made, the new system will allow you to register your devices yourself through the web. To do so, after the change on May 3:

1. Open a web browser and go to netreg.smu.ca. If you’re device does not have a browser then you will have to ask the ITSS helpdesk to register your device under your S#.

2. Enter your s-number and password, read the Acceptable Computer Usage Policy if you have not already done so and click if you accept the terms click the Accept button.

3. After successfully registering shut down for at least one minute to complete the Netreg process.

The network issues experienced earlier today have been resolved. All functionality has returned to normal

Banner system maintenance Concluded

The Banner system will be down from 4:00pm on Friday, March 3rd to 5pm Sunday, March 5th for scheduled system maintenance. This will affect the availability of all services that require Banner. These are INB Banner, Banner Self Service and Activate. Status updates are available at www.smu.ca/status. If you have any questions please contact the ITSS Help Desk at 496-8111.
