What We Offer

The Counselling Centre is Hiring: Peer Support and 2SLGBTQIA+ Wellness Ambassador

The Counselling Centre is currently hiring student staff for the 2024-25 academic year! We are seeking qualified candidates for the positions of Peer Supporter, Peer Supporter (Athletics), and 2SLGBTQIA+ Wellness Ambassador. These positions work approximately 8 hours per week to provide mental health support and literacy to the Saint Mary’s community. They receive three days of training in August as well as ongoing training and support throughout the academic year. Learn more and apply on Career360 by Sunday, May 26!

We offer individual counselling appointments in-person, over-the-phone, or over video call. Trained professional counsellors work with you through brief, solution-focused interventions. We start with a 30-minute intake appointment to help us understand and support your personal counselling goals.

Services are for students who are actively enrolled in classes at Saint Mary’s University and who reside in Canada. Students can access up to 8 counselling sessions in one academic year. For additional or longer-term supports, students can also be referred to community resources.

Students who are outside of Canada and who have SMUSA’s health plan can contact for information on available counselling services.

University employees can access the Employee and Family Assistance Program for counselling services. Search 'Saint Mary's University' on the workhealthlife site linked above (works best on desktops).
