Creating the Space for Possibility
Inspiration and imagination: That is the ethos behind a new 62,000 square foot addition to the Saint Mary’s campus.
Currently under construction, this interconnected space will animate and re-orient the South end of the campus, in turn connecting to the Sobey School of Business and Loyola Academic Buildings.
When it opens, the $43 million capital investment will provide new learning spaces and foster innovative multidisciplinary work, bringing together SMU’s 6,600+ students, professors, and researchers from all the university’s faculties: Arts, Science, Graduate Studies and the Sobey School of Business. The expansion will be a catalyst for superior interdisciplinary learning and applied research that will boost activity in entrepreneurship and data analytics for the benefit of our students and drive prosperity and resilience in our home province and region.
Future visitors will find a large collaborative gathering space, the university art gallery, a new home for the Saint Mary’s Entrepreneurship Centre, research centres, retail labs, maker spaces, project studios, and dedicated rooms for student societies.
