Kate Fagan Taylor is a Certified Management Consultant who supports university executives and boards across Canada to address their unique challenges. With decades of senior governance experience including a background as the Acting Assistant University Secretary at the University of Victoria and the Manager of Universities at the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, Kate possesses deep knowledge of governance in the post-secondary sector. Her role as a strategic advisor for the BC’s transformational Campus 2020 Initiative demonstrated her ability to facilitate complex changes within provincial post-secondary systems.
Kate’s board development advisory work includes designing a development framework for the BC Crown Agencies sector and providing board learning retreats for educational and public bodies. Kate designed a governance and management framework for the Health Data Coalition and conducted a Board Governance Review for Mount Saint Vincent University in 2024.
Holding a Masters of Divinity degree focused on values-based leadership, Kate brings advanced facilitation and coaching skills demonstrated as a university chaplain, the Executive Director of the Queenswood Retreat Centre, and Director of Executive Talent Management for the BC Public Service. As a Board-Certified Coach (BCC) and Executive Coach certified by the International Coaching Federation, Kate’s warm, collaborative approach fosters constructive relationships across campus and community that help organizations achieve their goals.
Kate was the recipient of the Rising Star Award from the Canadian Association of Management Consultants-BC in 2023. Kate also volunteers with Catalyste+ to provide governance advisory services in emerging countries and Indigenous communities in Canada.
