Chancellor Dr. Michael Durland, who has been exemplary in this role, will step down at the end of our Spring 2025 Convocations. The Governance Committee of the Board of Governors is responsible for identifying potential candidates and recommending an appointment to the office prior to the end of Dr. Durland’s term.
In accordance with the Chancellor Recruitment Policy, the Governance Committee is seeking input from the university community on the selection process.
The role of Chancellor is a voluntary position and is described in detail in the policy. The ideal Chancellor is an outstanding role model to members of the university, and should relate to students, faculty, staff, donors, and friends of Saint Mary’s with integrity and passion.
