International Departmental Programs
Extending your education through a departmental program is a great way to expand on your knowledge, while enjoying the eye-opening experiences that travel provides. And what better way to enhance your learning than by travelling while completing a program specifically designed by your department? When you participate in a departmental program, you gain valuable hands-on experience, and bring back best practices from other parts of the world.
What We Offer
The Department of Modern Languages & Classics offers programs in three great countries where you will immerse yourself in the language, food and culture.
- France: Immerse yourself in French culture for a full year by participating in the Angers Program. Start your year with an optional, month-long French language session, followed by coursework in language and related studies. Not able to commit to a year? Consider our one-month summer program.
- Germany: Engage with German culture and improve your German language skills with the Canadian Summer School in Germany. You’ll live with a host family, visit famous cities and towns and partake in cultural events all in six weeks while earning Saint Mary’s credits.
- Ireland: Looking to enhance your knowledge of the Irish language and culture? Spend four weeks at the National University of Ireland, Galway, in Áras Mháirtín Uí Chadhain.
- Mexico: Strengthen your Spanish with a summer in Mexico. In just six to twelve weeks, you’ll have a better understanding of a new culture, plus you’ll earn at least nine Saint Mary’s credit hours.
