New Brunswick Admission Requirements

For a list of usable academic courses for admission please NB Usable English Electives for the Anglophone curriculum, and NB Usable French Electives for the Francophone curriculum. 

Bachelor of Arts
English 121 or 122
Four additional academic 12 courses

Bachelor of Commerce
English 121 or 122
Foundations of Mathematics 12; or Pre-calculus 12A or 12B; or Calculus 120
Three additional academic 12 courses

Bachelor of Science
English 121 or 122
Pre-Calculus 12B; or Calculus 120
One academic 12 science course (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
Two additional academic 12 courses

Diploma in Engineering
English 121 or 122
Pre-Calculus 12B; or Calculus 120
Physics 121 or 122
Chemistry 121 or 122
One additional academic 12 course

Bachelor of Environmental Studies
English 121 or 122
Four additional academic 12 courses

Minimum 70% average with no mark less than 60% required in the above courses.

Early Admission

Early admission may be given to students who:

  • have a final overall grade 11 average of 70%;
  • have a minimum grade of 70% in each individual grade 11 course that corresponds to the five grade 12 courses required for admission to their program of choice; and
  • are registered for grade 12 courses that satisfy the admission requirements for their program of choice.

Early admission and early scholarships will be awarded to students who:

  • have a final overall average of 80% or higher in grade 11;
  • have a minimum overall average of 80% in the five program-specific corresponding grade 11 courses with no individual mark less than 70%; and
  • are registered for grade 12 courses that satisfy the admission requirements for their program of choice.
