Update on Vaccination for Winter 2022 Term

Updated November 18, 2021

In early September, Saint Mary’s University announced that all faculty, staff, and students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 15, 2021, unless they have applied for and been granted an exemption in accordance with the COVID-19 and Vaccination Requirements Policy.

Building on our commitment to safeguard the Saint Mary’s community, we are working to ensure the highest possible vaccination rate for Winter Term 2022. If you received confirmation of vaccination from Saint Mary’s University via email, or if you have received an exemption, then you can ignore this request.

For Winter Term 2022, all students attending classes on campus, or attending classes online but planning to visit campus, are required to be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. Please upload your proof of vaccination. If you have already done so and have received confirmation back from the university via email, thank you.

Students who are taking all online courses with no need or intention of visiting campus may be exempt from the requirement to upload proof of vaccination, but will need to complete an attestation form (below) by Friday, January 7, 2022.

Any student who: (i) has not provided proof of vaccination; (ii) has not been granted an exemption from the policy requirements; or (iii) has not submitted the required attestation form by Friday, January 7, 2022, will be unenrolled from their on-campus courses and provided a tuition refund for those courses.

Students who are taking all online courses and wish to be exempt from the vaccination requirement because they have no need or intention to visit campus must complete an attestation form (below) by January 7, 2022 to avoid deregistration as set out above.

Students who have been approved for an exemption will remain enrolled in courses and can be on campus if they get tested twice-weekly at our on-campus testing clinic and submit proof of testing as requested.

If you think you are eligible for an exemption to the vaccination policy or have questions, please contact student.services@smu.ca. We look forward to working with you to continue to ensure the safety of all students, faculty, and staff at Saint Mary’s.
