Course Enrollment

Application Procedure

1. Fill out the registration form and return it back to SMUCI administration (Confucius.Institute@smu.ca)
2. Complete the full payment of the course fee

Payment policy

Full payment must be paid upon the course commencement.

Cancellation policy

Once a term has begun, you can withdraw from a course up until the end of the first week of classes and be refunded 90% of your total tuition. After this date, refunds will not be issued

Lesson Rescheduling Policy

1 on 1 tailored lesson

Student shall notice the Mandarin instructor the lesson at least 3 hours in advance. Cancellation of scheduled lessons within 3 hours shall, for any reason whatsoever, have no make-up class provided. The rescheduled lesson date shall base on the availability of the Teacher. Students shall inform instructor for any late arrival 3 hrs before the lesson. The lesson will be forfeited for any no show and late arrival for over 20 minutes.

Group lesson

The Confucius Institute at Saint Mary’s University (SMUCI) provides unlimited access to the recorded class of the live session as make-up lesson as requested. Student shall notice the instructor for the unavailability at least 3 hours in advance and request for the make-up lesson. Cancellation of scheduled lessons within 3 hours shall, for any reason whatsoever, have no make-up class provided.

Transfer of class

Private class students may transfer account balances representing lessons paid for to group lessons and vice versa. Students are required to request in writing and SMUCI will process the transfer within 5 business working days.

Group class students may transfer to another class at different level after discussion with the teacher. The request for transfer shall be in writing and SMUCI will process the transfer within 5 business working days.

Teaching Material

The company shall provide all the teaching material related to the Mandarin language course at no cost to the student.
