 About the Team

The Saint Mary’s University Dance Club is comprised of dedicated Saint Mary’s University students who share a love of dance. The Club’s main focus is on hip-hop. Its members have various styles of dance experience. The SMU Dance Club exists to give the opportunity for dancers in the SMU community to share their passion and contribute to the school’s spirit. Over the years, the Dance Club has focused on performing at Varsity games, competing at dance competitions and fundraising. Dance experience is not required.

The Dance Club has won six dance titles at Cheer Expo Nationals in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015. They have also received the bid to represent Canada at Dance Worlds in Disney World, Florida each of those years. In 2008, they placed 8th at Dance Worlds and qualified for the finals in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015.

In 2019 they competed at Dance Quest Canada in Halifax, and made the finals where they won Best Choreography.
