BNUZ–SMU Research and Academic Skills-Building Symposium

Date: Saturday, October 19, 2019

The Dean of the Sobey School of Business is pleased to invite faculty to a one-day symposium on Saturday, October 19, 2018, at Unilever Lounge, 4th Floor, Sobey Building. This initiative started in 2017 with faculty from the International Business Faculty (IBF) at Beijing Normal University Zhuhai (BNUZ) and the Sobey School of Business (SSB) at Saint Mary’s University (SMU) interested in collaborating on research activities and improving academic skills. Teams from the SSB and the IBF worked together to design a symposium to bring together faculty from the business schools at both universities.

The first symposium took place at BNUZ on November 16–17, 2018. The second will be held in Halifax on October 19, 2019, and include peer-reviewed research presentations from IBF and invited presentations from a SMU Canada Research Chair in International Finance and Competitiveness and a senior SMU Librarian. Dean Xin Zhong and other scholars from IBF will participate. The symposium incorporates an editors’ panel discussion on how to publish research in top quality journals. We hope research collaboration efforts between the business schools will evolve into a more substantial participation and possibly expand this collaboration to other faculties at our universities.
