Women-owned businesses hit harder by pandemic
Date Published: February 22, 2021
Dr. Martha MacDonald, Professor of Economics at the Sobey School of Business, is quoted in a Toronto Star article about women-owned businesses being hit harder by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Whether you’re a wage employee or you’re trying to run a business, women are the ones that have been affected the most by childcare being shut down or by kids being sent home from school,” MacDonald said. “The evidence is quite clear that women have been more likely to be affected by their home responsibilities during the pandemic than men.”
