Dr. Daphne Rixon's work highlighted in University Affairs cover story

Date Published: February 26, 2021

Dr. Daphne Rixon's work with co-operatives and mutuals was highlighted in the March-April cover story of University Affairs magazine: Embracing development, sustainably

"Daphne Rixon has recruited about 30 co-operatives and mutuals – community-focused businesses that are member-owned, such as credit unions and insurance co-ops – for a study to identify how their activities align with the SDGs and to develop a related set of SDG-style metrics, similar to key performance indicators, that are relevant to the cooperatives sector. Dr. Rixon hopes that the organizations can use the metrics to tell their story better and create more community interest in co-ops. The study is funded through a grant by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council."
