Homburg Centre for Health and Wellness - Now Open!!

More than a building, the Homburg Centre for Health and Wellness is an opportunity to introduce students to a healthy lifestyle at a time when they are making critical life choices.

By providing much-needed space, the Homburg Centre allows Saint Mary's to expand existing initiatives and create new opportunities, enhancing the health and fitness options for staff, faculty, alumni and community users.

Named for Dr. Richard Homburg, whose $5M donation for the project was the largest single gift in the history of Saint Mary's University, the multi-purpose complex features the existing Tower facility, a renovated main entrance area and a new 20,400 square foot addition.

Bright, spacious and well equipped, it rivals any fitness facility in the province.

The Elements: Ethical Uses of our Resources - May 16th

Part 3: Oil A lecture by Andrew Nikiforuk, author of Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent

The affordability, portability and versatility of petroleum rapidly changed the role of the human species on the planet over the last 150 years. It expanded the role of the state, mechanized cities, industrialized agriculture, propelled demographic growth and changed economic thinking. What changes does the end of cheap oil herald, how much energy are North Americans ethically entitled to, and is it time for a paradigm shift?

The blog (http://spotlightonpublicsafety.wordpress.com/) is written by Halifax Regional Police Supt. Don Spicer. He's been the safety officer since March 2009, a role that was created in response to the mayor's roundtable on violence.

Operation Fall Back is a program hosted by Halifax Regional Police.
