Blog takes aim at preventing crime
A new blog by Halifax's public safety officer is intended to provide a dialogue on crime and how to prevent becoming a victim. The blog (http://spotlightonpublicsafety.wordpress.com/) is written by Halifax Regional Police Supt. Don Spicer. He's been the safety officer since March 2009, a role that was created in response to the mayor's roundtable on violence.
Operation Fall Back is a program hosted by Halifax Regional Police. The campaign was created in 2004 in response to concerns raised by citizens about noise and alcohol related complaints which escalate in September. Operation Fall Back will began the 1st week of September and will run every night throughout the first week of University and then on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for the remainder of the month. The Operation consists of pro-active education followed by enforcement. For more information please visit http://halifax.ca/police/
