Refund Requests

A credit balance! 

Contact the Service Centre to order a refund.  If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you wish to keep the credit on your account for a future term.  We return refunds to their source.  For example:

• Credits coming from credit card payments are returned to the credit card

• Scholarship and sponsor funds are returned to their source if you withdraw

• Student loan payments are returned to the National Student Loan Centre

• Debit card refunds can be returned to your debit card if you visit our office

Request your refund in writing:

Send us an email to service.centre@smu.ca from an email address we have on your record. Please include your full name, student number, date of birth and mailing address.

We mail refund cheques: 

Refund cheques are mailed to students however if you live in Residence, you may pick up your cheque at the Service Centre.  Graduate funding cheques can also be picked up.

You must have a valid address: 

If you do not have a valid address, our system will withhold your cheque from printing your cheque.  You must maintain an active address in Banner Self Service before we will refund any monies.   

Scholarship & Bursary Refunds:

If the award exceeds the total semester's charges, refunds can be ordered after November 15 for the first term and after February 28 for the second term.
