The Halifax Regional Municipality is a diverse, traditionally rich
city in which to live. There are numerous smaller regions within
the city and they are broken down over this section into managable
sizes. Each page includes a small description of the area, and a
link to a map.

Weather in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia has a temperate climate, with pleasant springs, colorful falls, and a summer that brings an average high temperature of 22 degrees Celsius (73 degrees Fahrenheit).

Driver Information
Speed limits and distances are in kilometres, not miles (1km=0.62 miles). Unless otherwise posted, the speed limit within urban and residential areas is 50km/h (31 mph); on the highway, 100km/h (60 mph). Unless otherwise posted, it is legal in Nova Scotia to turn right on a red light, after making a full stop. Seat belts are compulsory. Driving under the influence of alcohol is against the law. |
Bridges
A note to drivers: there are two toll bridges in Halifax/Dartmouth, the A. Murray MacKay Bridge and the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge. Toll required for a single crossing (one direction) is 75¢. The Macdonald bridge connects downtown Dartmouth to downtown Halifax and is the only bridge with pedestrian and bicycle access. |
