Gilfoy, Student Ambassador to Germany

Peter Gilfoy, a student in Global Business Management at Saint Mary’s University, was selected to be a Young Ambassador for DAAD this year. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a publicly-funded independent organization of higher education institutions in Germany, where they help students, faculty and current DAAD fellows in the US and Canada.

Young Ambassadors help inspire their fellow students to study in Germany. Peter and other Ambassadors reach out to students who may be interested in studying abroad, they make themselves available for questions and interviews with students, and they are often found at study abroad fairs, working out of study abroad offices, and organizing events on their own campuses. Peter raves of his time spent abroad, “two of the best years of my life were in Germany.”

Peter is the son of Neville Gilfoy, President of ProgressCorp and the recipient of an honorary degree from Saint Mary’s University. Peter spent two years studying in Germany, one in Cologne and another in Frankfurt. He said of academics abroad, “German universities take a diverse and worldly perspective in their programs, especially business.”

Peter’s profile can be found online at: http://www.daad.org/page/164944/.
