Saint Mary's Well Represented at I.C.B.C.
Students celebrate following the 2010 I.C.B.C. Final Weekend. |
The Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (I.C.B.C.) is Canada's premier undergraduate business case competition, and yet again, Saint Mary’s will be well represented.
The Preliminary Round of the 2011 competition attracted over 170 impressive submissions from 41 schools across Canada and around the world. The I.C.B.C. Executive announced those who have won the Preliminary Round, thereby advancing to the Final Weekend which takes place in early January in Kingston, Ontario.
Six finalists are chosen in eight different categories. Saint Mary’s will be represented in half of those; the Sheldon Chumir Foundation Ethics Event, Minerva Health & Safety Human Resources Event, the Marketing Event, and the Debating Event. The remaining four events are the Caro Systems MIS Event, the Finance Event, Business Policy Event, and the Accounting Event.
The Final Round is an exhilarating 4-day event which balances the spirit and ferocity of the competition with many opportunities to network and socialize with fellow competitors, volunteers and sponsor representatives. The actual competition itself takes place over the course of two days, with four events being held each day. The experience, although nerve-racking, has been described as exhilarating and profound for all of those involved and has accrued benefits and relationships gained beyond that of the presentation.
