James Kinnear to Host Turning Points in Leadership Dinner

Dr. James Kinnear, Chairman Emeritus Pengrowth Corporation and President & CEO of Kinnear Financial, will host the 5th Annual Turning Points Dinner April 8 at Saint Mary’s University. He will also deliver the keynote address.
As Founder of Pengrowth Energy Trust, Mr. Kinnear has been responsible for providing the vision and leadership to one of North America’s longest standing, largest and most successful Canadian energy royalty trusts.
Formed in 1988 with a $12.5 million value, Pengrowth Energy Trust has grown to an enterprise value of approximately $4.3 billion and is supported by a team of more than 640 people based in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia, London UK and New York USA.
Turning Points in Leadership is an annual event where successful leaders come to the Saint Mary’s campus to share their distinct, individual perspectives on turning points in their careers and how they have evolved as leaders.
"The goal of Turning Points in Leadership is to celebrate excellence in local and national leadership," said Paul O’Hearn co-chair of the event. "It is also an opportunity for business and community leaders to engage with some of the best and brightest graduating students from Saint Mary's University."
Proceeds from the dinner help provide bursaries for deserving Saint Mary’s students.
Mr. Kinnear has received numerous business and community awards including the Ernst & Young Prairies Region Entrepreneur of the Year Award; the Fraser Milner Casgrain Pinnacle Award for entrepreneurship and community service (2007); Alberta Venture’s Business Person of the Year (2007); and an Honorary Doctorate of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University (2009).
