Prize Winning Ideas: The New Nobels
From fiber optics and digital imaging to strengthening international diplomacy, the winners of the 2009 Nobel Prizes are shaping our society and our future.
Find out more about the 2009 Nobel winners at this series of free 40-minute lectures presented March 4, March 9 and March 12 by distinguished professors at Saint Mary’s University.
Eastlink will be taping the lectures for use on their current events program Podium TV.
The series begins Thursday, March 4 with presentations about the Nobel Prizes for chemistry and literature, continues Tuesday March 9 with presentations about the prizes for physics and medicine, and concludes Thursday March 11 with presentations about the prizes for peace and economics.

Dr. Timothy Frasier, Assistant Professor Biology
Nobel Prize in Physics
Willard Boyle and the Invention of Digital Photography
Dr. Ian Short, Chair, Astronomy and Physics

Nobel Prize in Economics
Conflict and Cooperation, Communities and Conservation
Dr. Tony Charles, Professor, Environmental Studies
Nobel Prize in Peace
How "Nobel": A "Peace" of Obama
Dr. Edna Keeble, Chair, Political Science
All lectures will be held in the Scotiabank Conference Theatre of the Sobey Building beginning at 7 p.m.
