Media Release For Immediate Release October 6, 2008 Saint Mary’s to host business competition As an economic crisis grips the world, take note of the winners of this competition. Business students from across Atlantic Canada will converge on the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 for a multi-event business skills competition. “It’s like a business skills Olympics,” said Matthew MacLellan, one of three project managers for the competition. The Sobey Business Skills Competition is the first of its kind in Canada, and will include five inter-disciplinary business competitions. Students will compete for cash in competitions such as a business trivia challenge, a stock competition, a live case competition, an interview competition and a current issues challenge. Recognizing that major companies have headquarters throughout the world, the theme of this year’s competition is, Understanding the World through Business. “To understand how the world works, students need to understand how business works,” said Travis McPhee, another one of the project managers. “This competition will help business students showcase and develop the skills that will make them responsible global citizens.” More information about the competition is available online at: http://www.smu.ca/bsc/ The Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University is the largest and most respected business school in Atlantic Canada.
