Media Release For Immediate Release October 2, 2008 Saint Mary’s community saddened by loss of Kay Dalton The Saint Mary’s community was saddened today by the loss of Kay Dalton who passed away Oct. 1. Kay was the wife of William Dalton, a founding member of the Department of Political Science at Saint Mary’s in the mid-1960s. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1942 from the Halifax Infirmary and married William in 1948. The obituary in the Chronicle-Herald notes Kay’s dedication as a mother and wife as she supported her husband in the completion of his master's and doctoral degrees with eight children at home. After William passed away in 1976, Kay continued to be a dedicated community volunteer, serving as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, fundraising for Adsum House and as a member of St. Peter's and St. Clement's parishes. She was also a longtime member and supporter of the Saint Mary’s University Faculty Women’s Association. A funeral mass will be held in St. Clement's Church, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth, on Friday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to William J. Dalton Memorial Scholarship Fund – Saint Mary’s University, Adsum House, or a charity of your choice.
