Media Release For Immediate Release Sept. 4, 2008 Business angel expert to speak at Saint Mary’s If entrepreneurs hope to succeed, they should look to the angels – business angels, that is. Dr. Colin Mason, an international authority on entrepreneurship will be at Saint Mary’s on Sept. 10 to present a public seminar about the benefits of business angel financing. Business angels are high-net-worth individuals who invest their own money, along with their time and expertise, directly in small companies. It’s a form of financial support recognized in Europe as an important part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and Mason hopes he can help promote it in Canada. Mason is the inaugural holder of the David F. Sobey Visiting Chair in Business at the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s. He also holds a Chair in Entrepreneurship in the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. His presentation is called Promoting Business Angel Investing: Learning from Europe?, and it will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. in Room 415 of the Sobey Building.
