Media Release For Immediate Release August 14, 2008 Former Huskies quarterback key member of CBC Olympic team Steve Armitage, a former Huskies quarterback, is playing a high-profile media role as a CBC announcer for events at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Armitage was the lead announcer for the historic events unfolding in the National Aquatics Center also known as the Water Cube. During his 38 years with CBC Sports, Armitage has covered virtually every sport, announcing for World Cup soccer, Export A Skins Golf, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, Olympic Games, Pan Am Games, Canada Games and the Grey Cup. Armitage was born in High Wycombe, England and grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He has lived in Vancouver for the last 25 years.
