Academic excellence celebrated at Saint Mary's

The tradition of academic excellence continued grow this week at Saint Mary’s University as 141 students were inducted into The President’s Hall of Academic Excellence.

The induction ceremony was held May 21 in the Loyola Conference Hall and a reception followed the formal ceremony.

Dr. J. Colin Dodds, President of Saint Mary’s, and Dr. Terry Murphy, Vice President (Academic and Research) spoke at the event.

The students inducted into the Hall on Wednesday were on stage again today, this time at the Halifax Metro Centre, as they joined their classmates to graduate from Saint Mary’s — one of Canada’s oldest and leading institutions of higher learning.

Those who received Medals at the induction ceremony included: Melissa Catherine Duffy (Governor General’s Silver Medal); Nicholas M. Harris (Gold Medal: Faculty of Arts); Charlene Marie McDonald (Gold Medal: Sobey School of Business); Kerry Dawn Worth (Gold Medal: Faculty of Science); Daniel Ryan MacDougall (Gold Medal: Division of Engineering); Kathleen Mary Gould (Governor General’s Gold Medal); Shenna M. LaPointe (Gold Medal: Master of Business Administration); Colin Frederick Lewis Dickson (Gold Medal: Executive Master of Business Administration); Sande Ewart (Gold Medal: Master of Arts in International Development Studies); Danielle Durepos (Gold Medal: Master of science in Applied Psychology); and Petr Bakus (Gold Medal: Master of Management: Co-operative and Credit Unions).

The President’s Hall of Academic Excellence was established in 2002.
