Students to Salute Top Profs at Commerce Dinner; Ron Joyce keynote speaker

This evening, the Saint Mary’s Commerce Society will host its 34th annual Business Dinner.

Almost 300 people will be attending the event which begins at 6:30 PM at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel.

This year’s keynote speaker is Ron Joyce, C.M., Chairman of Jetport Incorporated.

As co-founder of Tim Hortons, Mr. Joyce has been honoured many times within the Canadian business community and his success with a fledgling business provides inspiration to many entrepreneurs today. Mr. Joyce has also been recognized for his numerous charitable contributions to postsecondary education and through his creation of the Tim Horton’s Children’s Foundation, of which he is Chairman Emeritus.

Students will also recognize two professors for their hard work and dedication to students in the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s. Dr. Terry Wagar, Management Department, will be presented with the Full Time Professor of the Year Award, and Ms. Laura Cumming, Accounting Department, will receive the Part Time Professor of the Year Award

The Commerce Society’s Annual Business Dinner is a prominent event at Saint Mary’s University which gives students and business people the opportunity to interact before the end of the academic year. The event attracts dynamic business people from the region and aspiring minds from the Sobey School of Business.
