Wicks and Rudisuela take top awards

Female Athlete of the Year: Ashley Wicks.

Male Athlete of the Year: Dan Rudisuela.

 

At an Awards Ceremony held at the University this evening, Saint Mary’s honoured its top athletes and teams.


Female Athlete of the Year - Ashley Wicks, Volleyball, 3rd year, Truro NS. Named an AUS 2nd team All-Star, led the team in kills, blocks and team points.

Male Athlete of the Year - Dan Rudisuela, Hockey, 4th year, St. Catherines, ON. Named the AUS League MVP, AUS 1st team All-Star, CIS All-Canadian, led the team and the league in scoring, 3rd in CIS scoring, member of the gold winning FISU Men’s Hockey team

Other Winners were:

President’s Award (combined Athletic & Academic achievement)
Ally Read – Soccer, 5th year Amherst NS; and Tim St. Pierre – Football, 3rd year, Hamilton, ON.

Female Rookie of the Year - Katelyn Cross, Volleyball – 1ST year, Truro, NS, Named MVP of the AUS Championship, finished 2nd in the AUS in assists/set, team MVP.

Male Rookie of the Year - Brandon Verge, Hockey, 1st year, Fall River, NS. Named an AUS 1st All-Star, AUS & CIS All-Rookie Team, .910 save percentage in regular season

Men’s Soccer – Even Harvey
Football – Tyler Powell
Field Hockey – Maria Barreiro
Women’s Basketball – Alise Brown

Women’s Hockey – Courtney Shriver
Women’s Volleyball – Katelyn Cross
Cross Country – Gerald Demers & Christine Carey
