ANDERSON, Kenneth Borden "Moose"

ANDERSON, Kenneth Borden "Moose" - 1937-2006, passed away at home in the comfort of his family.

Anderson worked for many years in the University’s Physical Plant (now called Facilities Management). He was passionate about his role at SMU and was a popular employee. He will truly be missed.

Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late J. Borden and Laura (Christie) Anderson. Ken, a King's Scout of the 17th Halifax Troop, attended QEH, and graduated Halifax Vocational School where he played varsity football. He is missed by wife, June (Hanlon); sons, Jamie (Sarah) and grandsons Thomas and Oliver, Toronto; John (Karen), and granddaughter, Lauren, Dartmouth; Jeffrey (Michelle) and grandson Carter, California; and Jeremy, Dartmouth. He is also survived by siblings, Vivian (Bill) Pitul, Petpeswick; Ronald (Marina), Brooklyn; Alicia (George), Scarborough.

As a young adult, he was a machinist apprentice at the Halifax Shipyard, and cable ship engineer aboard vessels John W. MacKay, and after marriage, Cyris Field and Lord Kelvin. Subsequently he worked at Texaco Refinery, Dartmouth; Seapool Fisheries, Lake Charlotte, and Canada Rock Salt, Pugwash.

He completed his career in Halifax at the Halifax Infirmary, IWK Children's Hospital as Physical Plant Director, and retired from Saint Mary's University in operations management.

Service will be held in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Lock's Road, Dartmouth, on Wednesday, October 4, at 3 p.m. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
