Homburg Centre for Health and Wellness
Come Experience Our New Building
Overview
The Homburg Centre for Health and Wellness is the newest project on campus at Saint Mary’s University. Inspired by a generous donation from real estate developer Dr. Richard Homburg, the new facility is the focal point for Health and Wellness initiatives on campus.
A new 20,250 square foot addition to the former Tower facility provides crucial additional space that is allowing the University to expand existing initiatives and create new multi-disciplinary academic and community focused opportunities.
With the completion of construction, the Saint Mary’s community has access to a state-of-the-art multi-purpose complex that includes the Centre for the Study of Sport and Health, an integrated wellness program space, a large community studio/fitness room, community seminar rooms, a mid-size studio, a small studio, support space, and a show piece entrance that includes open space for students and other groups to gather, converse and study.
In addition to the much needed space, the Homburg Centre for Health and Wellness offers an opportunity to enhance the health and fitness options for the Saint Mary’s community.
“Health and Wellness is not simply about staying active and eating well,” said Gabrielle Morrison, Vice President, Administration for Saint Mary’s University. “Health and Wellness is multifaceted and our new strategy acknowledges that. It provides our faculty, staff and students with a menu of offerings that we hope can lead them to make changes for the better in their lives.”
