Check Your Application Status

Have you already applied to Saint Mary’s University and have not yet heard word of your admission decision from Admissions?   If so, here is a checklist for making sure that you have completed everything necessary.  Have you:

  • Allowed enough time for  Admissions to process your application?  During peak times (i.e. February – March),  it will take one to two weeks for the Admissions Office to make a decision once your completed application has been received.  The Admissions Office can be very busy and we will do our best to respond to every student in a timely manner.
  • Sent your official transcript(s) to the Admissions Office? If you complete the online application form, you must  send your official transcript(s) directly to the Admissions Office. If you are a transfer student, please be sure to send all official college and university transcripts. Here is the mailing address for the Admissions Office:

                                       Admissions

                                       Saint Mary’s University

                                       923 Robie St

                                       Halifax NS B3H 3C3 Canada

  • Included your $40 application fee and $25 residence application fee (if applicable)? If you have applied online, it is important that you include this application fee for your application to be processed.
  • Sent a list of any courses you will be completing this year?  If your current transcript does not include the incomplete courses that you intend to finish before beginning University,  it is important that you send this information to the Admissions Office.  This information will help us ensure that you meet the appropriate courses required for admission into your program.  This includes a list of your second semester courses if you are a high school student and this information is not listed on your transcript.

Once you have completed all of the above steps,  please feel free to contact the Admissions Office for an update on your status: admission.status@smu.ca or 1 (902) 491.6438.
