Student Leadership Recognition Award FAQ
Why should I apply for the Student Leadership Recognition Award?
The SLRA can accompany your degree and it will also be documented on your Co-Curricular Record. It will reinforce your demonstrated leadership qualities and skills during your academic career at Saint Mary’s University.
When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is Tuesday, October 31st, 2017. Supplementary documents have to be received no later than 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017.
Where can I pick up and drop off the application?
Please submit your Fall 2017 SLRA Application online. Supplementary documents (unofficial academic transcript, official Co-Curricular Record, and one character reference) have to be received by Career Services no later than 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017. The character reference can either be brought over in a sealed envelope or it can be delivered by mail. Once your Co-Curricular Record is printed it will be handed over to Career Services Secretary, 4th floor Student Centre.
How do I know that I qualified for the SLRA?
Given that the application criteria has been met, you will be qualified for the award and you will be notified via email by Wednesday November 15th, 2017. Up to three selected recipients per faculty will be contacted.
If you are qualified to receive the SLRA, but have not been chosen as a recipient for that term, we encourage you to reapply next semester and continue with your involvement in leadership and other co-curricular activities.
How many students receive the SLRA each academic semester?
The Student Leadership Recognition Award is very competitive. Up to three students are selected each academic semester from each of the four faculties. In total, up to 12 students are selected from the Faculty of Arts, including students that are enrolled in the Department of Environmental Studies, the Sobey School of Business, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.
