Yin Yoga

A Yin Yoga class targets the deep and more plastic connective tissues of the body (tendons, ligaments and fascia). Because these tissues are less elastic, the poses are held for extended periods of time, usually three to five minutes which allows for a safe and slow release. This practice is great for reduction of stress.

Gentle Movement

NEW! Wise Moves – movement training that connects brain and body

Learn how to make gravity your friend in this series of workshops that will explore different areas of the body using release techniques, somatic exercises, and ground reaction force to rebalance your body.  Much of current exercise training puts the body into a shape by contracting or stretching muscles which allow us to feel the intrinsic movement. As a result, excessive tension, instability and compensation is created in other areas of the body.  Join Movement Educator, Heather Dennis as she weaves together various techniques showing you how to feel movement from the inside out.  These easily learned techniques will improve movement at any age. Workshops are experiential, of equal challenge to those involved in Yoga, Pilates and Personal Training.  Register for 1 workshop or all 3 – your choice.  Each workshop includes a workbook per person. 

 

 Shoulders, Neck and Jaw – January 17 (Cancelled)

Explore the muscles of the shoulder and learn to use a tennis ball for release. Utilize bone rhythms to create efficient and smooth movement of the arms and shoulders and to effectively integrate these techniques to strengthen the upper body.

Happy Hips - February 21

Learning how the legs and the pelvis interact you will sense the different movements that the legs make in the hip joint.  Learn release techniques using tennis balls to feel how releasing excess tension in the muscles around the hip can affect the spine.  Feeling the bone rhythms of the pelvis and legs can lead to better awareness and optimization of movement. Activating the muscles around the hip will lead to improved stability and balance. 

Foot and Core – March 27

Each foot has 7000 nerve endings which send a constant stream of information to your brain. Jump start your core muscles with simple awareness exercises to identify and improve key movements of the foot and ankle. The results are improved balance and posture and an overall reduction in body tension.

NEW! RickMyTrainer

This new program will give you the flexibility to have a challenging workout multiple times a week without having to commit to a specific day in advance. Rick will be here every morning so it will be easy to fit these workouts into your regular routine. One month rate gives you access to all 5 classes or any combination therein. Workout styles will include: plyometric based, circuit, core focused, stretching, and cardio just to name a few. All classes will make use of a wide variety of equipment. The objective of the program is to improve your fitness while burning off extra body fat. Rick Horsman is a passionate Fitness Leader and Personal Trainer who is committed to helping his clients achieve their best fitness, while staying safe and having fun. This will be the brightest and best time of your day - get your workout done before going to work! For our registration purposes we will ask that you register for only 1 of the 2 options below. You can come to any of the days of the week for any number of classes – just choose the option that you think you will attend most of the time.
