BioBlitz is not just for scientists! In addition to the researcher's field work this unique event has a variety of educational and hands on activities suitable for all ages.  Visit the environmental pavilion at 3811 Old Sambro Rd. on June 5th to get upclose and personal with biodiversity in Nova Scotia!

ecology and how you can help by visiting interactive

exhibits in the environmental pavilion.

Join the Young Naturalists Club and the Halifax Field Naturalists on a fun and family friendly eco-hike through

the park! This trail is appropriate for beginners.

Enjoy the beach like never before! Explore this incredible seaside landscape with naturalists from the Ecology Action Centre.

Interact with BioBlitz scientists as they use microscopes

and other field equipment to study critters from the park

in the environmental pavilion.

 

Join us for the final wrap up of BioBlitz

Enter the BioBlitz

Student Essay Contest!!!

 

  Are you in 11th or 12th grade? 

Do you have an interest or passion

for science, the environment or the outdoors?  Then this contest is for you! Contest winners

will have the opportunity to join

a BioBlitz research team in the

field for the duration of

the event.

To enter submit a short essay

describing why you think

biodiversity and/or wildlife

conservation are important. Two

lucky students will be selected to

join the BioBlitz research teams in the

field on June 4th and 5th!

Applicants must be in 11th or

12th grade, and should submit

their essays to bioblitz@smu.ca.

  Directions:

  The environmental pavilion, which features interactive exhibits, the SMU BioBlitz

  Research Station, and sign up stations for guided hikes and walks is located on the

  bottom floor of the United Church in Sambro, at 3811 Old Sambro Rd., Halifax. 

  Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park is located a short 5 minute drive away!
