Huskies remain undefeated down Moncton 3-1

The number three nationally ranked Saint Mary's Huskies held off a gritty effort from the Universite De Moncton Les Aigles Bleus to win 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 25-17) in Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball action this afternoon from The Tower.

The first place Huskies remain undefeated on the season improving their record to 10-0 with twenty points. Moncton drops to 3-8 and six points.

Transfer Ariel Smith (Yarmouth, N.S) returned from injury and recorded sixteen kills to pace the Huskies attack. 5th year senior Kerri Smit also tallied sixteen kills and Elizabeth Cosulich (Shawnigan Lake, B.C) recorded ten. Libeiro Anastasia Callaghan (Truro, N.S.) led the way on defense with twenty five digs.

Genevieve Lemay (Ottawa, Ont.) led the attack for Les Aigles Bleus with ten kills while senior Stephaine Lagace (Bathurst, N.B.) added nine.

The Huskies next game will be Saturday, January 21st when they travel to play the Saint Francis Xavier X-Women. Moncton will return to Halifax next weekend to play the Dalhousie Tigers on January 22nd.
