The Saint Mary’s Huskies are mining New Brunswick for women’s basketball recruits, with the Halifax school securing commitments from Rebecca Nuttall and Robbi Daley, the top AAA players in that province this year.
Nuttall, a three-time provincial all-star at Riverview High School, helped her team to the AAA title in February, amassing a 35-1 record along the way. She was named Northeast Conference MVP this season and leaves the Royals as the program’s all-time leading scorer.
Daley, a two-time provincial all-star and captain at Fredericton High, was named the Southwest Conference MVP this season. During her four-year career with the Black Kats, the team went 129-26.
"We’re very excited to have these girls join our Women’s Basketball Program at Saint Mary’s," head coach Scott Munro said in a release.
The Huskies finished the 2008-09 season at 2-18, tied with UPEI in the conference basement.
