Saint Mary’s University Women’s basketball Head coach Scott Munro is pleased to announce that NBIAA two time all-star Julie Hatcher will attend Saint Mary’s in the fall, to pursue her academic and athletic interests.

Huskies, Tigers advance in hoop playoffs

The Saint Mary’s Huskies are moving on in the AUS women’s basketball playoffs by the skin of their teeth.

The third-seeded Huskies held off a spirited Axewomen team 64-63 Friday in quarter-final play at the conference championship tournament in Sydney.

2009-10 Atlantic University Sport Women's Basketball All-Stars Announced
SMU's Colley named to 1st Team
February 24, 2010 (HALIFAX, NS) - Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2009-10 women's basketball all-star and all-rookie teams as selected by the conference's eight head coaches following the regular season.

CIS and AUS scoring leader Kelsey Hodgson of the 1st-place, CIS No. 5 ranked Cape Breton Capers (19-1) once again leads the list of first team selections. Hodgson, last year's AUS Most Valuable Player and now the all-time leading scorer in CBU school history, had another outstanding season for the Capers, averaging 22.1 points per game. Kelsey, a fifth year senior from Fredericton, NB, also led the conference in steals (3.0 per game), free-throw percentage (90.4 per cent) and three-point field goals made with 52.

Joining Hodgson on the first team is CBU teammate Kari Everett along with Acadia's Alise Brown, SMU's Justine Colley and UNB's Amanda Sharpe.

Huskies hold off Tigers
High school rivals continue battle on university court
Justine Colley netted 18 points to offset former high school rival Anna von Maltzahn’s 15 as the Saint Mary’s Huskies downed the Dalhousie Tigers 65-55 in Atlantic university women’s basketball action Wednesday night at the Tower in Halifax.

THE SAINT MARY’S Huskies women’s basketball team just got a whole lot better.

The Huskies have persuaded two-time metro high school league MVP Justine Colley to turn aside some major recruiters, including some NCAA Division 1 schools, to stay home.

The Saint Mary’s Huskies are mining New Brunswick for women’s basketball recruits, with the Halifax school securing commitments from Rebecca Nuttall and Robbi Daley, the top AAA players in that province this year.

2008-09 Atlantic University Sport Women's Basketball All-Stars Announced
SMU's Daley named 2nd team All-Star
February 25, 2009 (HALIFAX, NS) - Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2008-09 women's basketball all-star and all-rookie teams as selected by the conference's eight head coaches.

CIS and AUS scoring leader Kelsey Hodgson of the 1st-place, #6-ranked Cape Breton Capers leads the list of first team selections. Hodgson had a record breaking year, establishing a new single season AUS record for points scored with 515 for an average of 25.8 points per game. Kelsey, a fourth year native of Fredericton, NB, scored 30 or more points in nine of 20 regular season games, including a 46-point effort on January 30th, the second-highest single-game total ever in the history of the Atlantic conference.

McLaughlin nets 27 as Huskies top X-Men

The Saint Mary’s Huskies finally solved the St. Francis Xavier X-Men in dramatic fashion on Thursday, but Huskies coach Ross Quackenbush could only name one thing as the deciding factor.

"Dumb luck, honestly," Quackenbush said. "I can’t really pretend it’s anything more than that."

Munro named head coach of women’s Huskies basketball

The reigning ACAA coach of the year for women’s basketball is coming to Saint Mary’s.

The Department of Athletics and Recreation at Saint Mary’s University is pleased to announce that Scott Munro has been appointed head coach of the Huskies women’s basketball team. The appointment is effective July 1.
