January 30, 2012

Track and field is more than half way through its season and so far the results have been excellent.
On the women’s side, the top three female 60 meter sprinters are ranked 2nd through 4th in the AUS division. The sprinters are: Emma Pink, Anissa Owen, and Kayla Marcotte respectively. Anissa is also ranked first in the AUS division in the long jump. Emilee Bendell is currently ranked first in the shot-put in the AUS division as well.

Track and field results on the men’s side have SMU sitting in a strong position in the 1000 meter distance race. Jake Wing ranked first in the AUS division and currently has the 12th fastest time in the CIS division. Brad Palmer is also ranked 3rd in the AUS division.

Kevin O’Neill is ranked 1st in the AUS division in the 60 meter hurdles. His time puts him barely outside the top 15 fastest hurdlers in the CIS division by .04 seconds. Michael Weatherbie is also currently tied for second in the high jump in the AUS division. Garret Ramey is ranked 1st in the shot-put in the AUS division. He currently sits 11th in the country in the CIS division.

With about a month left till the AUS championships, SMU track and field is looking very promising and it appears that many great results will soon be achieved.
